Solideal, Camso & Michelin Forklift Tires Catalog Guide

Posted by Forklift Tire Company on 5th Mar 2026

Shopping Solideal forklift tires, Camso forklift tires, or Michelin forklift tires? This is the complete guide to the Michelin & Solideal material-handling lineup — resilient solid (super-elastic), press-on, and radial & bias pneumatic — organized the way Camso engineers it: by application intensity, so you match the tire to your duty cycle, floor, and equipment. It flags the 2025 ownership change so you order with current information, includes a legacy→current model map for replacements, and covers Michelin’s own radial line (XZM, X Stacker) separately.

Solideal & Camso at a glance

  • What they’re known for: among the most recognized names in solid and press-on forklift tires worldwide.
  • Three families: RES (resilient solid), PON (press-on band), AIR (bias pneumatic) — each offered in low / medium / high intensity.
  • Who owns it now: the Solideal/Camso material-handling lines are CEAT-owned as of September 2025 (full history below).

Who makes Solideal and Camso tires now?

Ownership has changed several times, which is why catalogs and quotes can look inconsistent. Here is the current, verified picture:

Year What happened
2015 Camoplast Solideal rebranded as Camso; Solideal continued as Camso’s material-handling tire brand.
2018 Michelin acquired Camso and folded the Solideal/Camso solid & press-on lines into its material-handling portfolio.
Sept 2025 Michelin sold Camso — including the Solideal material-handling business and its Sri Lanka plants — to CEAT Limited (RPG Group, India). The deal completed in September 2025 with a multi-year brand-license transition.

Bottom line for buyers

  • The Solideal / Camso resilient-solid (RES), press-on (PON), and bias-pneumatic (AIR) families are now CEAT-owned and continue under the Solideal and Camso names — same model numbers you know.
  • Michelin kept its own Michelin-brand radial pneumatics (XZM, X Stacker, and port/terminal radials). Those are a separate, Michelin-owned line — not part of the CEAT deal.
  • Buying impact is minimal: confirm current availability when you order. We’ll verify it for you.

The three tire types in this catalog

Match the construction to your biggest pain point first, then pick the intensity tier and size.

Construction Best for Key benefit Trade-off Shop now
Pneumatic (AIR / radial) Outdoor, rough & mixed surfaces Best ride & shock absorption Can puncture Solid & Pneumatic
Resilient solid (RES) Indoor + outdoor, debris-heavy Flat-proof; long life Firmer than air Best Choice Solids
Press-on (PON) Cushion-tire forklifts, indoor Compact, stable, low-maintenance Smooth floors best Press-On Tires

Choose by application intensity

Camso builds both its resilient solids and press-ons in low, medium, and high intensity tiers. Matching the tier to your hours and load is the single biggest driver of cost-per-hour — over-spec and you overpay, under-spec and you replace tires too often.

Intensity Resilient solid Press-on Typical operation
Low RES 330 — (PON starts at medium) Lighter loads, fewer shifts, cost-sensitive
Medium RES 550 Magnum PON 550 (smooth) / PON 555 (traction) Everyday 1–2 shift warehouse fleets
High RES 660 Xtreme PON 775 Non-stop, heavy loads, abrasive sites

Resilient solid tires (RES) — Solideal’s flagship

Resilient solids (super-elastic / flat-proof) are where Solideal built its name. A three-layer build delivers zero-flat uptime with a more forgiving ride than a basic solid:

1 · Tread layer — wear & traction
2 · Cushion layer — absorbs shock
3 · Bead / base — locks to the wheel

Three-layer super-elastic build = flat-proof uptime + a softer ride.

Model Intensity Non-marking option Best for
RES 330 Low Lighter-duty, lower-hour, cost-sensitive fleets
RES 550 Magnum Medium Magnum NM Most general warehouse fleets; long-lasting in its class
RES 660 Xtreme High RES Xtreme NMAS Non-stop, high-load, abrasive sites; runs cooler
Solidair LT Comfort Operator comfort — aperture design for an air-like ride

Why the Xtreme runs all day

Camso positions the RES 660 Xtreme to operate at lower internal temperatures so it can take non-stop, high-load duty, with an abrasion-resistant tread compound for long life — the reason it’s the pick for the hardest-working trucks. (Manufacturer performance positioning, Camso.)

Press-on tires (PON)

Press-on band tires mount to a steel band and press onto cushion-tire forklift wheels. The current PON series replaced the long-running Magnum press-ons and is built in the same low/medium/high logic:

Model Intensity / pattern Replaces (legacy) Non-marking option
PON 775 High — premium, heat-resistant Magnum SM ERP PON 775 NMAS
PON 555 Medium — traction Magnum traction PON 555 NM
PON 550 Medium — smooth Magnum smooth PON 550 NM

PON 775 — the high-intensity press-on

Camso positions the PON 775 (the “Seven Series”) for the toughest press-on duty: vs. the older Magnum SM ERP it cites roughly 90% better resistance to heat build-up, 70% better energy efficiency (low-rolling-resistance compound) and 45% longer life, with sizes up to a 33″ tire. (Manufacturer claims, Camso.)

Pneumatic tires (radial & bias)

The catalog splits pneumatics into Michelin radials and Solideal/Camso bias (AIR) tires.

Bias pneumatics (Solideal / Camso)

Model Focus Notable
AIR 550 General-duty workhorse Up to 80% longer life than the older ED Plus; widest range, 8″–20″
AIR 570 Energy efficiency for electric trucks Low-rolling-resistance compound, flat tread, smooth center lug
AIR 561 Mid-range bias option General material-handling duty
ED Plus NM Non-marking, clean-floor indoor Non-marking natural-rubber compound

Michelin forklift tires (radial pneumatics)

Michelin forklift tires are premium radial pneumatics for material-handling, port, and terminal equipment. Michelin’s radial line — which stayed with Michelin (separate from the CEAT deal) — includes XZM and XZM2+, the X Stacker 2 / X Stacker 3 HD, port/terminal radials such as X Straddle and X Terminal, and the EV-focused X AGV EV. Radials add ride comfort and stability for higher-speed or longer-run outdoor work. Need Michelin forklift tires? Send us the size and we’ll source a quote.

Michelin model Best for Notes
XZM / XZM 2+ Counterbalance forklifts Radial; up to 7x fewer punctures than bias; lower energy and operating cost
X Stacker 2 / 3 HD Reach stackers and container handlers Heavy-duty port and stacker radial
X Straddle 2 Straddle carriers Even tread wear in demanding port use
X Terminal Terminal tractors and port equipment Built for port and terminal duty cycles
X AGV EV Automated and electric trucks (AGVs) EV-focused, low rolling resistance

Michelin radials run from counterbalance forklift sizes up to large port and reach-stacker sizes. Tell us your Michelin size or equipment and we will source a quote. (Model positioning per Michelin.)

Replacing older Solideal tires? Legacy → current map

If your current tire or an old quote shows a discontinued name, here’s the current equivalent:

Legacy name Current equivalent
Magnum SM / SM ERP (press-on) PON 775 (high) / PON 555 / PON 550
Magnum traction / smooth (press-on) PON 555 (traction) / PON 550 (smooth)
ED Plus (pneumatic) AIR 550
“Solideal” vs “Camso” Same family — now CEAT-owned

Non-marking options for clean floors

For finished concrete, food/beverage, pharma, and retail-adjacent warehouses, non-marking compounds prevent visible scuff lines. Solideal offers non-marking across all three constructions:

  • Resilient solid: Magnum NM (medium), RES Xtreme NMAS (high, also anti-static)
  • Press-on: PON 775 NMAS, PON 555 NM, PON 550 NM
  • Pneumatic (bias): ED Plus NM

Non-marking trades a little tread life for clean floors — worth it when scuff marks are a compliance or housekeeping issue. Tell us your floor type and we’ll point you to the right compound.

How to choose the right Solideal / Camso tire

Flats / punctures killing uptime? → Resilient solid (RES) or press-on (PON)
Indoor, finished concrete, clean floors? → Non-marking (NM / NMAS) variants
Electric truck, want max runtime? → Low-rolling-resistance AIR 570
Best ride over rough / mixed surfaces? → Pneumatic (Michelin radial or Solideal AIR)

How Solideal and Camso tire sizes work

  • Resilient solid (RES): read as section width by rim/band width (for example 7.00x12-5.00 in). Mounts on a matching wheel.
  • Press-on (PON): read as outside diameter x width x inside band diameter (for example 21x8x15). Presses onto a cushion-tire wheel.
  • Pneumatic (AIR): standard tire size plus ply rating (for example 6.00-9, 7.00-12); needs a tube and flap unless tubeless.

Frequently asked questions

Who makes Solideal tires now?

Solideal’s material-handling solid and press-on tires are now owned by CEAT Limited (RPG Group, India), which completed its acquisition of Camso — including the Solideal business — from Michelin in September 2025. Michelin had owned Camso/Solideal from 2018 to 2025, and the brand traces back to Camoplast Solideal, rebranded Camso in 2015.

Is Solideal the same as Camso? Are Camso forklift tires and Solideal forklift tires the same?

Yes — same family. Camso is the parent brand that the Solideal material-handling solid (RES), press-on (PON), and bias-pneumatic (AIR) lines are sold under, so “Camso forklift tires” and “Solideal forklift tires” refer to the same products (now CEAT-owned). You will see both names on catalogs and tires.

Are Michelin and Solideal the same company now?

No. As of September 2025 the Solideal/Camso material-handling lines are CEAT-owned. Michelin kept its own Michelin-brand radial pneumatics (XZM, X Stacker, and port/terminal radials), which are a separate line.

What is the difference between RES, PON, and AIR?

RES = resilient solid (super-elastic, flat-proof). PON = press-on band tires for cushion-tire forklifts. AIR = bias pneumatic (air-filled). Choose RES or PON to eliminate flats; choose AIR for the best ride on rough surfaces.

How do I pick low, medium, or high intensity?

Match the tier to hours and load. Low (RES 330) suits lighter, lower-hour use; medium (RES 550 Magnum, plus PON 550 smooth and PON 555 traction press-ons) fits most 1-2 shift warehouse fleets; high (RES 660 Xtreme, PON 775) is for non-stop, heavy-load, abrasive operations. Press-ons start at medium intensity.

What replaced the Solideal Magnum press-on and ED Plus?

The Magnum SM press-ons were replaced by the PON series (PON 775 high-intensity, PON 555 traction, PON 550 smooth), and the ED Plus pneumatic was replaced by the AIR 550, which Camso rates at up to 80% longer life.

Which Solideal tire is non-marking?

Non-marking options include Magnum NM and RES Xtreme NMAS (solids), PON 775 NMAS / PON 555 NM / PON 550 NM (press-ons), and ED Plus NM (bias pneumatic). Non-marking compounds prevent scuff lines on finished floors.

Which Solideal tire is best for electric forklifts?

The AIR 570 is engineered for electric trucks: a low-rolling-resistance compound, flat tread, and smooth center lug reduce energy use and vibration. Resilient solids also suit electrics where flat-proof uptime matters most.

Does Forklift Tire Company sell Solideal and Camso tires?

Yes. We quote and ship any Solideal or Camso line nationwide, even ones not yet listed on our site, and Los Angeles-area customers can add professional press-on pressing/installation. We also stock comparable Best Choice resilient solids and press-ons ready to ship today.
