9x5x5 Press-On Forklift Tires
The 9x5x5 forklift tire is a solid press-on type tire designed to mount onto a press-on (industrial) wheel. Press-on tires consist of a steel band permanently bonded to either a rubber or polyurethane tire compound. The tire is installed using a hydraulic press to ensure proper fitment and retention.
This size measures approximately 9 inches in overall diameter and 5 inches in width, bonded to a 3/8-inch steel press-on ring. It mounts onto a 5-inch press-on wheel. The inside diameter tolerance is typically held within ±0.005 inches to ensure a secure interference fit during installation.
Rubber Cushion Press-On Tires
Rubber press-on tires are commonly referred to as cushion tires. The rubber compound provides built-in shock absorption compared to polyurethane, delivering a smoother ride on concrete warehouse floors.
Rubber cushion tires are available in:
-
Standard Black — Durable compound for general warehouse use.
-
Non-Marking — Grey or light-colored compounds designed for clean or regulated environments.
Polyurethane Press-On Tires
Polyurethane press-on tires are harder than rubber cushion tires and offer lower rolling resistance, making them ideal for electric forklifts operating on smooth, clean warehouse floors. Polyurethane compounds are non-marking and available in various durometers and performance formulations.
Due to their higher hardness, polyurethane tires may be more susceptible to edge damage if exposed to debris or sharp impacts. However, in controlled indoor environments, they provide long wear life and efficient energy transfer.
The 9x5x5 forklift tire is a solid press-on tire which go on press-on rims aka industrial wheels. The rubber type of solid press-on tire is often called a "cushion tire", as the rubber tire allows for a built-in cushion compared to their even more solid counterpart, the polyurethane press-on tire. 9" Tall, 5" Wide bonded on 3/8" steel press-on ring and will mount on a press-on type 5" wheel. The ID is +/- 5/1000th of an inch.
9x5x5 Polyurethane Options
- 9x5x5 Polyurethane Press-On Tire – SPS (Soft Ride) — Softer compound (85A durometer) with enhanced shock absorption. Preferred for operators who drive between indoor and occasional outdoor surfaces.
- 9x5x5 Polyurethane Press-On Tire – Hyload — Harder compound with higher load capacity and longer tread life. Best for heavy-duty, smooth-floor warehouse applications.
