Polyurethane press-on tires, commonly referred to as poly tires, are solid polyurethane compounds bonded to a precision 3/8" steel press-on ring. These tires mount to flat-base industrial wheels using a hydraulic press, ensuring a secure interference fit and long service life.
How Polyurethane Tires Are Measured
Poly press-on tires are measured by overall diameter × width × inside diameter (wheel size). For example, a 21x7x15 tire measures approximately 21 inches tall, 7 inches wide, and presses onto a 15-inch wheel. After accounting for the steel ring base, this provides approximately 5-5/8 inches of polyurethane compound.
Why Choose Polyurethane Tires?
Polyurethane tires have a higher durometer (hardness) than rubber cushion tires. This increased hardness reduces rolling resistance and heat buildup, making polyurethane ideal for electric forklifts operating on smooth, clean warehouse floors.
Poly tires are naturally non-marking and are widely used in environments where floor cleanliness is critical.

Due to their higher hardness, polyurethane tires provide a firmer ride and can be more susceptible to edge damage if exposed to debris or sharp impacts. In controlled warehouse environments, however, they deliver excellent wear life and consistent performance.
